Now we will strike fear into the heart of our opponents
Visitors to the Carnegie Mellon home page today have learned that the university has rendered one of the most important decisions in its 107-year history.
We're talking, of course, about our decision to name the Scottish Terrier the university's official mascot, which will put to rest fears among alumni, students and other Scottie devotees that we would be sending the Scottie--for years an unofficial mascot--off to live on a farm somewhere. A committee of students, faculty, staff and administrators selected the Scottie after months of input from the campus community, including alumni.
It should be noted that our athletic teams will still be known as the Tartans. But we will now have a real, live, mascot to terrier-ize our opponents. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
Take that, Maroons!
