There's a new dog in town

Carnegie Mellon's Marketing Communications group says there'll be a new dog in town this weekend, and it has nothing to do with the "Dawg Pound" of the Cleveland Browns, who the Steelers play this Sunday. It's a new graphic image of the Scottish Terrier, voted last spring by students and alumni to be the university's first official mascot.

The new image will be unleashed on the Gesling Stadium scoreboard at halftime of the Tartans' football game against the Washington & Lee Generals this Saturday, Nov. 10. Cheerleaders will toss T-shirts bearing the new image into the crowd and the University Store will be selling official Scottish Terrier merchandise that afternoon. More merchandise will be available for the holidays.

The new mascot will build school spirit, enhance the student experience and create a greater sense of community throughout the campus. Personally, I'm looking forward to sporting my new Socttish Terrier golf hat, head covers and logo balls on the links next spring.
