Carnegie Mellon, Pitt To Announce $25 Million Federal Grant
Program Tests Educational Innovations in Actual Classrooms
Event: Come see how students and teachers at Steel Valley High School and Middle School are helping researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh develop new methods to increase student success in the classroom. Kenneth Koedinger of Carnegie Mellon and Charles Perfetti of Pitt, co-directors of the Pittsburgh Science of Learning Center, will announce a new $25 million federal grant. They also will discuss a nationwide network of schools, including Steel Valley, where they gather information about how students learn and where they test new learning tools and techniques. Additional schools in Pittsburgh will be added to the network this fall.
Students and teachers will be available for interviews.

Where: Steel Valley High School, 3114 Main Street, Munhall. Drive south on the Homestead Grays Bridge and continue straight onto West Street. Turn left on East 22nd Avenue and then right onto Main Street.
