Carnegie Mellon's Naval ROTC Celebrates
Change of Command With Pomp and Bagpipes

Event: Carnegie Mellon University's Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) unit will celebrate a change of command and retirement as Capt. Keith Bowman retires after 31 years of service. Bowman, a nuclear submarine officer, assumed his duties as professor of naval science and commander of the Naval ROTC unit at Carnegie Mellon in 2006. More than 80 midshipmen, many from the College of Engineering, will participate in the ceremony during which Rear Admiral (ret.) William Timme will present Bowman with the Legion of Merit Award. Capt. Gregory Billy, also a nuclear submarine officer, will be the unit's new commander. Billy commanded Submarine Squadron 22 and naval support activity in La Maddalena, Italy.

When: 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3.
