International Festival Keynote Discusses How "Sesame Street"
Creates Educational Programming For Global Audiences

EVENT: Gary Knell, president and CEO of Sesame Workshop, will present "Muppet Diplomacy: How Sesame Street is Changing Our World" as Carnegie Mellon University's 2008 International Festival keynote speaker. The lecture embraces the festival theme "Global Learning in the 21st Century" by highlighting Sesame Workshop's approach to meeting unique educational needs of children in more than 140 countries. The organization has created programming addressing the stigma around HIV/AIDS in South Africa, girls' education in Egypt and respect in Northern Ireland.

The lecture includes lunch and is open to the public. Free tickets will be available at Carnegie Mellon's University Center Information Desk beginning Oct. 2.
