Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon Students Sponsor Kicksburgh,
A Celebration of Sneakers and Urban Culture, April 16
Event: Kicksburgh will showcase sneaker and urban culture in Pittsburgh and around the world through live music and exhibitions by shoe artists, collectors and vendors. The event is free and open to the public, although used, but wearable shoes and monetary donations will be accepted. A majority of the proceeds from the donations will go to Soles4Souls (www.soles4souls.com), a charity that provides footwear to those affected by natural disasters around the world. The event has been coordinated by Carnegie Mellon University juniors Jesse Chorng and Elliott Curtis, and students from their Sneakerology 101 course. Sneakerology 101 is one of several Student College (StuCo) courses, which provide Carnegie Mellon students with an opportunity to design and deliver their own courses for academic credit from the university.
