Carnegie Mellon Brownfields Center Hosts Event To
Unveil Recommendations for Route 8 Industrial Corridor
EVENT: The Western Pennsylvania Brownfields Center at Carnegie Mellon University will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 4 at Fall Run Park in Shaler Township to unveil a plan to address flooding issues and land use for a sliver of light-industrial land stretching from Glenshaw Glass Co. to Nicklas Supply Inc.
Land-use recommendations will be revealed by six national redevelopment experts who spent the last several days at a workshop designed to explore the potential for the 1 1/2 mile light-industrial corridor along Route 8 in Shaler Township.
Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Shaler Township Manager Tim Rogers will attend the press briefing. They will be joined by officials from the Western Pennsylvania Brownfields Center, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the Allegheny Rivertowns Enterprise Zone and the Allegheny Land Trust.
