Carnegie Mellon Names New Chief Investment Officer
Ed Grefenstette To Officially Take Post in Mid-March
PITTSBURGH—Carnegie Mellon University has named Ed Grefenstette its new treasurer and chief investment officer.
Before joining Carnegie Mellon, Grefenstette was the managing director and co-founder of Commonwealth Capital Group, a private equity investment fund. He previously served as a director in the mergers and acquisitions advisory group of PNC Capital Markets, the investment banking subsidiary of The PNC Financial Services Group.
A Carnegie Mellon alumnus, Grefenstette earned a master of science in industrial administration (MBA) from the university's Graduate School of Industrial Administration, now the Tepper School of Business. He also holds a bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from Georgetown University.
Grefenstette will officially take his position in the middle of March, upon approval by the university's board of trustees. He succeeds John Mazur, who held the position for more than six years.
