Matlab and its toolboxes

MATLAB is software for mathematical computation, analysis, visualization, and algorithm development.

NOTE: The Windows version MatLab installed in the Computing Services' Computing Clusters for the 2004/2005 academic year is version 7.0 (a.k.a. Release 14). To see what new features are available in version 7.04 (a.k.a., Release 14SP2), which is available for download below, see http://www.mathworks.com/products/new_products/release14sp2.html.

NOTE: Matlab 7.0 does not work on version 10.2 or earlier of MacOS. Matlab 6.5 works on all versions of MacOS X.

There are separate Matlab licenses for

CNBC, ECE and the School of Computer Science (including robotics institute) have concurrent use licenses for Matlab and toolboxes for their faculty and staff.

Faculty, staff and graduate students can download Matlab from MyAndrew to use with classroom and group licenses. It is up to users to understand the terms of the license agreement that covers their use of Matlab and abide by the terms of that license.

Classroom License: Matlab under the Classroom License can be installed on:

Matlab under the Classroom License can be used by students for coursework and research leading to a research paper, thesis or dissertation, and by faculty to prepare course material and evaluate student work. Faculty and staff members cannot conduct research with copies of Matlab covered by the Classroom License. Matlab is not to be used for commercial purposes or in conjunction with consulting activities.

Matlab Group Licenses are standalone licenses that were purchased by or for individual faculty, staff and students for use on their university or personally owned computers.

For more information about the Matlab licenses, visit: http://www.cmu.edu/computing/software/agree.html.

IMPORTANT!Downloading large files over the campus wireless network may cause you to approach or exceed your daily network bandwidth limit. If you are downloading an installer file over 500MB in size, or if you are downloading several installer files on a particular day, Computing Services insists that you use a wired network connection. If you are downloading an installer file over 100MB in size, Computing Services recommends that you use a wired network connection. For more information about bandwidth guidelines, please see the Wireless Network Bandwidth Usage Guidelines.
