“The graduate program has exceeded my expectations.”

I was originally attracted to the Department of Biological Sciences due to its size and computational expertise. I came from a small school, Grinnell College, and was looking for a similar experience with my Masters degree. Additionally, the openness of the curriculum was appealing. You can design your own schedule based upon your computational, biological and potential research interests.

The program is also challenging. Within one particular class, the challenges the other students and I experienced allowed us to come together and bond. We helped each other understand.

In addition to the program, I was attracted to the city of Pittsburgh; it’s a very inexpensive place to live. The hills, mountains and greenery remind me of home – Accra, Ghana.
