08-640 Dynamic Network Analysis

This course covers the fundamentals of network science, the methods, the theories, the research findings & the pro-cedures for data collection.  Special attention is paid to the sub-areas of social network analysis, link analysis and visual analytics.  Additional topics include intelligence gathering, information diffusion, corporate marketing, organizational design, security related issues, and trust in social media. Fundamental metrics and advanced methods are covered, with attention to the application areas where these can and have been used.  In class projects will cover techniques for analyzing a range of networks including, social networks, social-media networks, geo-spatial constraints on networks, dynamic networks, semantic networks, and alliance networks.
