Prospective Students-Mechanical Engineering - Carnegie Mellon University

Arrange a Visit

The best way to find out if Carnegie Mellon is the "right" school for you is to visit our campus.  Because prospective undergraduate applications are administered through the university's Undergraduate Admissions office, tours, interviews and information sessions should be arranged through that office.  Group information sessions take place Monday through Friday in the summer, Saturdays in the fall and April.  You may also interview with a member of the admission staff.

To schedule a group information session or interview, call (412) 268-2082 on any weekday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Eastern Time or request an interview or group information session.

Arrange a Visit with a Current MechE Student

The Mechanical Engineering (MechE) Department offers tours every Monday and Friday at 12:30pm.

The last day for summer tours is Friday, August 16th. We are unable to offer tours and take visitors during the weeks prior to and the first week of classes for the fall semester. Tours will resume September 6th at 12:30pm.

Reservations are not required- simply be present at the Scaife Hall first floor lobby at 12:30pm. A current MechE student will review the curriculum, organizations, clubs and activities, lab space, the machine shop, and other components of the MechE Department.

Please note that visitors who are unable to arrive for the designated tour at 12:30pm most likely cannot be accommodated. If you are planning a visit please submit your request by email to mechmail@andrew.cmu.edu; at least a week in advance be sure to include the date of your visit and options when you are available to meet.  You may also leave voicemail at 412-268-2500.  Evening and weekend appointments are not available.
