Allen Robinson Serves on HEI's Special Committee on Unconventional Oil and Gas Development

Mechanical Engineering Department Head, Professor Allen Robinson, is a member of the recently-formed Special Committee on Unconventional Oil and Gas Development - a committee formed by the Health Effects Institute - an independent, non-profit research institute funded jointly by governement and industry.

The mission of this committee is to develop a strategic plan to guide future research on potential health and environmental impacts of unconventional oil and gas development in the Appalachian Basin.

According to HEI's press release, "...the committee members are drawn from leading institutions in the Appalachian Basin and around the nation and are highly regarded experts in diverse fields of study directly related to oil and gas development and its possible impacts."

Robinson leads several major research initiatives as part of the internationally recognized Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies at CMU.
