McGaughey Wins Teare Teaching Award

Congratulations to Associate Professor Alan McGaughey on winning the Benjamin Richard Teare Teaching Award!

This award is peer-nominated, and then selected by the College of Engineering's Faculty Awards Committee.

"I am honored to receive the Teare Teaching Award, following excellent educators from the Mechanical Engineering department who have won this award in the past. Teaching is the foundation of what we do at CMU. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to interact with our outstanding study body and to learn from my colleagues on a daily basis," says McGaughey.

McGaughey was recently featured on the CIT homepage for his collaborative research with Assistant Professor Jonathan Malen, studying thermal management at the nanoscale.

McGaughey currently teaches Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, a pivotal course for many students in deciding their future research interests and/or career plans.
