Shen Selected for DARPA Young Faculty Award

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Sheng Shen, who has been selected as a recipient of the DARPA Young Faculty Award!

Professor Shen's proposal, entitled "Compliant and Thermally Conductive Ordered Nanostructures for Next Generation Thermal Interface Materials," aims to create more effective thermal interface materials (TIMs) out of nanostructures.  The results could be applied in electronic packaging of computer chips and thermal management of laser modules.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) began the Young Faculty Award program in 2006 to provide funding, mentoring, and industry and Department of Defense contacts to mainly untenured faculty.  The program aims to develop the next generation of academic scientists, engineers, and mathematicians in key disciplines for DoD and National Security issues.
