MechE Alumnus Appointed Ford VP of Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department congratulates alumnus Hau Thai-Tang ('88) on his appointment to Vice President of Engineering, Global Product Development at Ford Motor Company. Thai-Tang oversees engineering for car, truck, SUV and crossover vehicles for the Ford and Lincoln brands.

Born in Saigon, Vietnam, Thai-Tang has been on a global journey since joining Ford as a College Graduate trainee in 1988.  He traveled to Cologne, Germany to work on the Lincoln LS and served as the Executive Director for Global Product Programs, developing vehicles for the South American market.

Thai-Tang was awarded the Young Leadership and Excellence Award by the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2001. He also was named the Asian Executive of the Year by On Wheels Inc. in 2006. To read more about his accomplishments, read the press release.
