Traut Displays Donated Prius at NETL Event
Ph.D. student
Elizabeth Traut, advised by ME Associate Professor
Jeremy Michalek, participated in an outreach event with the
National Energy Technology Laboratory’s (NETL) Pittsburgh Campus. Traut ran a display featuring the plug-in Prius Toyota donated to Carnegie Mellon for NETL’s “Take Your Child to Work Day”. In addition to answering questions about the vehicle for both NETL employees and their children, Traut also showed off the plug-in Prius’ A123 Hymotion conversion pack battery, outside plug and computer system that logs data. The donated Prius is used for collaborative research between Professor Michalek’s
Design Decisions Laboratory and MSE and EPP Assistant Professor
Jay Whitacre’s
Materials for Electrochemical Technologies research group.
