The health professions are among the most challenging and most rewarding careers available. At Carnegie Mellon we
have developed the Health Professions Program (HPP) to assist our students and alumni in exploring the world of
health care, preparing for graduate training, and ultimately achieving their life goals.
The HPP is an advising and resource center for all Carnegie Mellon students and alumni. This program complements a
student's curricular advising. Our university trains students to be first-class scientists, artists, engineers,
managers, or whatever their passion may be. We therefore do not offer a "pre-med" major; instead we encourage
students to devise a curricular plan that incorporates the requirements for admission to health professional
graduate programs. Regular advising, workshops, seminars, symposia, community outreach, and medical internship
experiences are all part of what we offer to help you meet your goals.
