ComputingUndergraduates have access to the extensive, world-class computing resources of Carnegie Mellon University, including wireless network access. In addition to the university-wide computer clusters, science students have access to clusters maintained by the Mellon College of Science and the individual departments.
The New LabsA new eight-story addition to Doherty Hall, due to open for classes in Fall 2003, will provide state-of-the-art space for teaching laboratories, including a flexible interdisciplinary freshman lab and a lecture hall well equipped for demonstrations.
InstrumentationUndergraduates in the Mellon College of Science begin hands-on work with scientific instruments as early as the freshman year and nearly all quickly have the opportunity to participate in leading-edge research shortly thereafter.
