Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contact the MCS Diversity Committee to share contacts or other information in support of the college’s initiatives to enhance our efforts in recruiting, outreach, and mentoring aimed at diversifying our community.  

Carnegie Mellon Diversity Resource Guide

Includes recommendations on recruiting, hiring and mentoring compiled by the university’s Diversity Advisory Council. Includes practical resources for faculty recruiting, staff recruiting, and accommodating disabilities, with additional materials planned for students.

Mellon College of Science Diversity Strategic Plan (pdf)

Developed as part on a university-wide initiative to include diversity in all departmental strategic plans. Includes some baseline statistics from Spring 2003 and strategic plans for the college and each of the departments in MCS.

MCS Funds to Support Implementation of Diversity Plans

Announces availability of MCS funds to facilitate implementation of departmental and college diversity strategic plans. Provides a brief form for requesting funds for both unexpected opportunities and longer-term plans and projects.

MCS Diversity Committee

Charged with facilitating the implementation of the MCS Diversity Strategic Plan. Includes two faculty members from each department. Initial committee efforts are focusing on sharing graduate recruiting strategies across departments.
