Westinghouse SAM
(Science and Mathematics)
Program
Westinghouse Electric "adopted" Westinghouse High School, an inner city school with a
largely African American student population. They committed resources of money and people
to improve the educational program there, and their initiatives include a summer experience
at Carnegie Mellon. This is a 4-day residential program. The hands-on curriculum focuses
on polymer chemistry, and it incorporates several visits to local industry.
