Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon's Bruce and Astrid McWilliams Center for Cosmology To Host 9th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop
Event: The Bruce and Astrid McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon University will host the 9th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop (GLCW9). The workshop offers a forum for Great Lakes-based advanced graduate students, post-doctoral students and young faculty working in all areas of cosmology and particle-astrophysics. The conference will highlight the research of students and faculty. Senior faculty will also provide important overviews of the subject matter.
Participants are drawn from 25 different U.S. and Canadian universities and government laboratories, including Carnegie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pennsylvania, Fermilab, The Ohio State University, the University of Chicago, and Cornell and McGill universities. Speakers will present findings regarding the large-scale structure of the universe, cosmological simulations, cosmological data analysis and the early universe.
When: Sunday, June 8 - Wednesday, June 11. Scientific presentations will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, June 9, and Tuesday, June 10, and from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 11.
