Irene Fonseca received a Women of Distinction award in math and technology from the Girl Scouts — Trillium Council

Irene Fonseca, MCS Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Center for Nonlinear Analysis, received a Women of Distinction award in math and technology from the Girl Scouts — Trillium Council. The award recognizes Fonseca’s leadership and accomplishments, as well as her efforts in encouraging young women to pursue research in mathematics. The awards were presented on Thursday, April 29 at the Hilton Pittsburgh. The Trillium Council includes girl scouts from several counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Monongalia and Preston counties in West Virginia and Garrett County in Maryland.
