  1. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF NEW CORE COURSE IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND CELL BIOLOGY (handout)
The Biology Department proposed a new course, 03-743.

COLLEGE COUNCIL ACTION: The council voted unanimously in favor of creating the new course.

  2. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF TEACHING FACULTY PROMOTION CRITERIA (handout)
Gregg Franklin proposed Changes to the Teaching Faculty Promotion Criteria.

COLLEGE COUNCIL ACTION: The council voted unanimously in favor of the Teaching Faculty Promotion Criteria.

  3. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF CHANGES TO 33-775, INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH (handout)
The Physics Department proposed that credit for 33-775 be reduced from 6 units to 1unit in conformity with the present content and associated time commitment that is required.

The reason for the proposal was that the course is 6 units and its workload is too heavy for graduate students.

COLLEGE COUNCIL ACTION: The council voted unanimously in favor of reducing the units of 33-775 from 6 units to 1 unit.

  4. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF CHANGES TO THE UNDERGRADUATE COLLOQUIUM (handout)
The Physics proposed the following: Sophomores will take a two-semester course 33-201 and 33-202 (2 units each). Juniors and Senior will take two additional semesters, 33-301 and 33-302 (1 unit each). While there is a reduction by two semesters in the Colloquium requirement, there is no change in the total number of units needed for BA and BS degrees.

COLLEGE COUNCIL ACTION: The council voted unanimously to except the changes mentioned above to the Undergraduate Colloquium.
