Mathematical Sciences Professor Mort Gurtin has been awarded the Timoshenko Medal

Mort Gurtin, professor of mathematical sciences, has been awarded the Timoshenko Medal of the Applied Mechanics Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This award is conferred annually in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of applied mechanics. Specifically the award cites Gurtin's "seminal contributions over the past four decades to nonlinear continuum mechanics and thermodynamics."
