The Merck Computational Biology and Chemistry Program was created in 1999 with a grant from the Merck Company Foundation and ran from 1999-2005 with the goals of training future leaders in computational biology and chemistry and stimulating interdisciplinary research in these areas. These goals were very successfully met and at the end of the grant period, the Merck Program was superceded by the Joint Carnegie Mellon University-University of Pittsburgh Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology. Students interested in graduate training in Computational Biology are encouraged to apply to the Joint Program.
