Carnegie Mellon University

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Dr. Robert Dammon as dean of the Tepper School of Business. Bob was first appointed as the ninth dean in 2011 and still continues as a researcher and professor in financial economics.

Over the past five years, Bob has demonstrated his strengths and accomplishments as dean of the Tepper School with his leadership on a number of initiatives, including the development of the Tepper Quad, contributing to the establishment of the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, the creation of new and innovative educational programs for the Tepper School, and achieving record-setting fundraising in support of faculty and students. Bob also has been actively engaged with the university’s academic leadership on the redesign of a new institutional budget model.

I want to share my gratitude to the following members of the evaluation committee: Linda Argote (co-chair), professor, Organizational Behavior and Theory; Duane Seppi (co-chair), professor, Finance; Peter Boatwright, professor, Marketing; Gérard Cornuéjols, professor, Operations Research; Ramayya Krishnan, dean, Heinz College; Nicola Secomandi, professor, Operations Management; Param Vir Singh, associate professor, Business Technologies; and Sevin Yeltekin, associate professor, Economics. I also want to thank Kathryn Roeder, Vice Provost for Faculty, who served as an ex-officio member of the committee.

The committee provided thoughtful analysis and advice that will be helpful to Bob and to me as he begins his next term as dean.  Bob plans to incorporate the input from the review committee into a new strategic plan for the Tepper School.  He is eager to begin working with members of the Tepper School community on the strategic planning process this fall.

Please join me in congratulating Bob.

Sincerely,
Farnam Jahanian
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
