Leadership Academy Mission

The Carnegie Mellon Leadership Academy is a professional development program geared to staff members who demonstrate leadership potential, commitment to the future of Carnegie Mellon, and a strong drive to achieve greater levels of responsibility.  While participation in this program does not guarantee promotion, the Leadership Academy is Carnegie Mellon’s commitment to, and investment in, the development of staff with high potential to positively impact the university. 

The Carnegie Mellon Leadership Academy will enhance the leadership, decision making, and business management capabilities of a diverse group of staff who have demonstrated professional excellence.  This intensive, year-long professional development program will prepare participants to tackle new roles within the university.

Leadership Academy Goals

  1. To enhance the leadership, communication, strategic, interpersonal and managerial skills of high potential staff at the university
  2. To prepare Carnegie Mellon leaders who can guide the university through challenges and opportunities as we enhance our presence as one of the world’s leading research and educational institutions
  3. To build professional relationships among current and future leaders of the university
  4. To promote career satisfaction and recognize career potential of senior staff at the university
  5. To promote life-long learning and professional development
