    Designing, building and evaluating new teaching-learning environments for distance learning. ActiveTutors explores a new kind of personalized teaching machine based on the seamless integration of incremental instruction with practice. Our current endeavor is to provide a first academic year of computer science instruction over the World Wide Web.
