Administration Plan

  • Biennial distribution beginning Spring 2007

Brief Description
  • Developed by Human Resources and IR&A, the Carnegie Mellon Staff Survey is an internal instrument designed to collect a variety of information from full-time staff members.  Participants are asked to identify the importance of and their satisfaction with several attributes of their positions (e.g. management, office culture, professional and physical environment, pay and benefits, etc.).  Additionally, staff members are asked several questions about the culture and climate of Carnegie Mellon.  Questions were selected on the basis of their alignment with previous surveys (2005 End of Year Undergraduate Survey, 2004 HERI Faculty survey) and from interests and concerns arising from Human Resources.  Future administrations are scheduled to occur on a biennial basis.

Relationship to Other Instruments

  • Culture and Climate questions on the Staff survey are included in the optional questions of the HERI Faculty Survey, the End of Year (EOY) Undergraduate Survey and the EOY Graduate Student Survey.

Survey Results
  • Survey results are generated  for the entire Carnegie Mellon population, by division, by gender, and by minority status.
