SMART Card Distribution

Faculty

In order to facilitate varying schedules and to simplify the process for faculty, new SMART Cards will be delivered to departments. A coordinator from each department will be appointed as a designate to handle the distribution process for faculty members. SMART Cards will be sorted and delivered to departmental designates July 12, 2013. Only benefits-eligible faculty located on the Pittsburgh campus will receive new SMART Cards.

Departmental Designate Responsibilities

We appreciate the partnership of departments and their designates in helping with a smooth, efficient transition process. 

The designate will review the delivered SMART Cards and sign off on receipt. Each group of cards will be sent with a roster for sign off by the owner of each card. The designate will collect the most current, old ID Cards in exchange for new SMART Cards. Current, old ID Cards; undistributed new SMART Cards; and the completed, signed roster are due to The HUB by Sept. 15, 2013. 

The departmental designate may sign off in absence of a faculty member, if the current, old ID Card has been surrendered and returned to The HUB. The department will assume full responsibility of providing the new SMART Card to the faculty member and any replacement fee associated if the SMART Card is not distributed to the faculty member or lost in transition. The department will be charged $25 for each current, old ID Card not returned to The HUB by Sept. 15, 2013.

Staff

Benefits-eligible staff members located on the Pittsburgh campus will be able to pick up their new SMART Cards during the week of July 15-19, 2013 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Andy's Alcove, lower level of the University Center. Staff members must turn in their current, old ID Card in order to receive their new SMART Card. SMART Cards will be distributed alphabetically by last name according to the following timeline:

  • A-F: Monday, July 15, 2013
  • G-L: Tuesday, July 16, 2013
  • M-R: Wednesday, July 17, 2013
  • S-Z: Thursday, July 18, 2013
  • All remaining: Friday, July 19, 2013

SMART Cards not picked up during distribution week will be returned to The HUB, located in the lower level of Warner Hall, for pick up during regular business hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday - 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
