Official Carnegie Mellon colors

CARNEGIE MELLON COLORS—
Cardinal, with black, gray and white

• The official Carnegie Mellon colors are the athletic colors (cardinal and gray with white and black as accent colors) registered since the 1920s:

• When printing the Carnegie Mellon colors, the PMS designation for the Carnegie Mellon cardinal is PMS 187.

• In general when working in color, the Carnegie Mellon cardinal should be presented as the "dominant" color in your color scheme. Black, white and gray should be used as backgrounds or accents, in support of the cardinal.

• Care must be taken when specifying a color for the Carnegie Mellon cardinal in other media (for example, when rendered any way other than ink on paper). Contact the Communications Design Group for assistance in choosing the appropriate red for imprints, garments or other specialty applications. With help from the Communications Design Group, it is generally possible to work within manufacturer's colors (for products and imprints) to achieve the desired color scheme.

• Official university uniforms, vehicles, signs and other key identity elements should always be produced using the athletic color palette (cardinal, black, gray and white).
