Center for Polymer-Based Protein Engineering (CPBPE)

The Center for Polymer-Based Protein Engineering is dedicated to advancing the science of biopolymer hybrids for tailoring the activity and stability of proteins and enzymes. We are developing new synthetic pathways for protein-polymer conjugates to enhance our understanding of the structure-function relationships between proteins and polymers. We are working to harness the great diversity of polymer functionality to provide design templates for predictably influencing the behavior and stability of proteins under diverse environmental conditions. The results of our efforts to define polymer-based protein engineering will have dramatic effects in a wide range of applications including bio-therapeutics proteomic analysis, bioenergy, protein structural analysis, molecular detection, cancer therapy, and industrial catalysis.
