Fall: August 14, 2009
Spring: January 4, 2010
If you anticipate difficulty in paying your bill, contact the Assistant Directors of Enrollment Services at The HUB for counseling prior to August 14, 2009 or January 4, 2010.
Your statement may include an estimated loan payment.
Federal Stafford Loan and Federal Plus Loan Master Promissory Notes will need to be signed online.
Federal Stafford and PLUS Loan estimates tell you that funds have not arrived at The HUB. Your loan will not appear as a credit on your account until we receive your funds electronically or you endorse your check. These funds are disbursed no earlier than ten days prior to the first class day.
First-time Stafford borrowers at Carnegie Mellon must also complete Federal Student Loan Entrance Counseling.
It is important to follow all necessary steps to make estimated loan monies a reality.
Students with credit balances will have a refund issued. Students will be mailed a check or can sign up for direct deposit. Federal PLUS Loan overpayments will be mailed to parents.
Refunds from Federal Stafford or PLUS Loans are issued within a week of the credit occurring.
Refunds based on overpayments from scholarship, grant, or Federal Perkins Loans will be broken into two payments: the first of up to $1000 at the point the overage occurs and the second refund for any remaining overage will be made during the fourth week of the term.
Refunds that include a student overpayment will be held for 21 days prior to release.
Students who change their registration during the refund period can have a resulting change in their tuition charges and aid. Students will be responsible for meeting any further payment (or, if refunds have been issued, repayment) obligations as dictated by their registration change.
Withdrawals after the refund period can affect aid eligibility.
