E-Grades Submission Information
This page is specific for Carnegie Mellon faculty, teaching instructors and department grading proxies.
The following is a list of dates and some general information you will find useful when entering your Spring 2008 Mid-Semester and Mini-3 Grades via the Electronic Grade Web Submission Process through the Faculty Information On-Line website. You can enter your grades by using Faculty Information On-Line.
Please keep in mind that the change made to allow plus and minus grades for undergraduate students is only valid for mid-semester grades. Plus and minus grades will not be accepted for undergraduate students for final Mini-3 grades or during final grading periods.
IMPORTANT CHANGE: Due to security issues, submitted grades no longer appear on grade confirmation emails. The confirmation now contains only the students' andrew id, name, course, and section. To verify your grades, after receiving email confirmation, you can go back into the grade website and bring up your course(s) and section(s).
If you have any additional questions, feel free to call MaryAnn Moyer at 268-1941 or Kathy Sloan at 268-1949. You may also send email E-Grades.

Note: If you forget the 's' in the address, you will be denied access.
PROXY INFORMATION
If someone other than yourself must submit your grades, they will need to be set up as a proxy through Enrollment Services. Only the instructor of record, assistant or associate department head, and the associate dean are permitted to register a proxy. Let your proxies know they must have an active Andrew account to be registered. If they do not have an active Andrew account, please have them contact Computing Services at 268-4357.
Send email to E-Grades to register your proxy. In your email message, please provide us with the proxy name, proxy Andrew user id, course number, course section, semester, and who gives authorization.
CHANGE OF GRADE INFORMATION
You now have the ability to change a grade via the Electronic Grade Processing website during the CURRENT grading period. After the grading deadline has passed, you will NOT be able to change a grade through the website. You will need to complete a Change of Grade/ Missing Grade Form for any late 'final' grade changes.
MISSING GRADE INFORMATION
All 'final' grades not submitted by due dates are considered missing grades. After the designated grade processing period, the Web Application can no longer be used. Please submit a Change of Grade/Missing Grade Form for each student registered for your class missing a 'final' grade. Once complete, this form should be sent to Enrollment Services, Warner Hall, Room A19, for processing.
INCOMPLETE GRADE INFORMATION
When assigning an incomplete (I) grade, you will need to provide a default grade. If you do not provide a default grade, you will receive an error message in your confirmation, and no grade will be saved.
A default grade is the grade a student will receive if he/she does NO additional work for this course. If the I grade has not been changed by the end of the next semester, the default grade will be recorded on the student's transcript.
AUDIT GRADE INFORMATION
Instructors assigning an audit grade for a student who successfully completes the course would give an 'O' grade. You should assign an 'R' grade for any student who has not successfully completed your requirements for auditing the course.
"W" GRADE INFORMATION
While entering your mid-semester or final grades, you may come across a student who has already been assigned a "W" grade. "W" grades are assigned when a student drops a course after the tenth day of class, but before the last day of class ends. "W" grades can also be entered by the Enrollment Services Office. If a "W" grade has been assigned to a student, it cannot be changed through the Web Application.
INQUIRIES
If you have any additional questions or experience difficulty entering your grades, please send email to E-Grades. This account is monitored during working hours Monday through Friday.
