Credit & Debit Cards
The university now accepts both credit and debit card payments online through Education Computer Systems, Incorporated (ECSI). Payments made through the ECSI website are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee.
Payments will appear on your credit card and bank statements with a description of “ECSI, LLP” or “ECSI”. Convenience fees may be reflected as a separate line depending on your card type.
For students making a debit card payment from a U.S. checking or savings accounts, CMU suggests that you instead enroll in Online Banking through Student Information Online (SIO). Online Banking provides similar functionality to a debit card payment, but free of charge.
Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover
Credit card payments made through ECSI are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee equal to 2.40%, while debit card payments are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee equal to 0.50%.
NOTE: All convenience fees are being charged and paid directly to ECSI during the payment process.
If your payment is denied, contact ECSI or your credit card company to determine the reason for the failure.
Go to the ECSI website to begin the payment process. An Andrew User ID is required when paying via credit card. Your Andrew User ID is the prefix of your Carnegie Mellon email address. For example, brianhi is the Andrew User ID for email@example.com.
