A.W.G. Dewar Inc. Tuition Refund Plan

Carnegie Mellon is concerned with enabling families to protect their financial investments in a Carnegie Mellon education, especially when a student must withdraw during a semester due to a serious illness or an accident. You have an optional insurance program known as the Tuition Refund Plan.

Tuition, activity, technology, media and Port Authority Transit fees, plus room and dining can be insured. Applications must be postmarked by the opening date of classes to participate. If the student withdraws from classes because of a personal physical illness or accident, the Tuition Refund Plan will return 100% of the insured term tuition and fees. The plan will refund 60% of the insured term tuition and fees if the withdrawal results from a medical/psychological illness.

The refund will assist you greatly by giving you:

  • Money that can ease your loan obligations
  • Money that will allow you to continue your education without increasing your costs
