Notice: Financial aid & billing for 2014-15

*This notice was sent to undergraduate students who have started the financial aid application process and have not yet received an award letter.

Upon review of your June student account invoice, you may notice that it does not reflect financial aid for which you have applied.

Our goal remains to provide excellent financial aid servicing to Carnegie Mellon students and parents. In doing so, we are navigating a new financial aid system and have experienced some delays in the financial aid awarding process for 2014-15. While we understand this may be concerning as you prepare to make payment arrangements, we assure you that we are working diligently to make certain you are awarded the aid for which you may be eligible.

All of our undergraduate students who complete the financial aid application process in its entirety, and are eligible to receive aid, will be notified via email once their award letter is ready to be viewed on Student Information Online (SIO). We expect that all notifications will be delivered by the end of July.

As a reminder, please ensure you have completed and submitted all required financial aid application documents by selecting 'Financial Aid Award/Status' under the 'Finances' tab within SIO.

Once awarded, your financial aid will be posted to your student account and reflected on your July invoice. You may review this and all other student account transactions by selecting ‘Student Account Activity' under the ‘Finances' tab within SIO.

If you expect to participate in our payment plan through Tuition Management Systems (TMS), we recommend that you wait to enroll until receiving your award notification. This will allow you to accurately budget your out-of-pocket expenses for the upcoming semester.

We appreciate your continued patience and want to assure you of our commitment to provide exceptional service during this transition.

Regards,

The HUB staff
