Should I really be thinking about my career now?

Yes and no. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences strongly encourages students to explore a variety of majors. In fact we do not permit you declare a major until half way through your second semester - at the earliest - in the hope that you will try a few different options and find a "best fit."The campus experts in discovery and exploration of majors are the Career Consultants in the Career Center. If you feel undecided about a major, connect with the Career Consultants now with an eye to the future. Don't wait until your mandatory declaration day (half way through the fourth semester) to seek their help. Try thinking "big-picture" now while still enjoying the present discoveries.

Similarly, might you want to study abroad? While you don't need to know where you want to go or exactly when, it is never too early to start plotting a course for such travel.
