Student Enrichment Activities

The Creative Writing Program frequently sponsors student trips to such prominent gatherings of writers as the Dodge Poetry Festival (the largest poetry festival in North America) and the national conference of the Associated Writing Programs (the national organization of universities with creative writing programs) in order to give students a better understanding of the larger writing world that awaits them.

The Nagin Fund

The Edythe and Leon Nagin Fund was established by Dr. Daniel Nagin, the Heinz Professor of Public Policy, in honor of his parents, Leon Nagin (CIT 1937) and Edythe Nagin (MM 1941). This fund supports a travel award for undergraduates in creative writing for professional development and conferences. This year, the Fund gave support to students to attend the Associated Writing Programs Conference in Chicago. The Fund also supports an annual $250 award for the best creative writing undergraduate thesis, presented at the Adamson Awards ceremony.
