After getting my Ph.D. in Rhetoric at CMU, I spent three years at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, where I worked on the history of psychology and the current psychological research on language and thought. My recent and ongoing projects include: Clinical Observation and the Making of Cultural-Historical Psychology (the research program developed by Soviet psychologists L.S. Vygotsky, A.R. Luria, and A.N. Leont'ev in the 1920s-1930s), The Role of Concepts in Scientific Reasoning, and The Globalization of Knowledge and Its Consequences. My current interests center on reasoning and argument, concept formation, and the design of concepts and communication strategies that can effect change in organizations.
