Yona Harvey Awarded VCCA Fellowship

Yona Harvey Awarded VCCA Fellowship

Assistant Teaching Professor of English Yona Harvey has been awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA). She will spend June 7-26 at the VCCA, where she will focus on completing poems for her second manuscript.

"I'm honored to have this fellowship," Harvey said. "The VCCA fellowships are for artists in writing, visual arts, and music, and I'm especially thrilled to be among other artists, observing how they work and what they're making. Every artist needs a supportive environment or community."

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Virginia, the VCCA is one of the largest year-round artists' communities in the country. Past Fellows have included recipients of Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Awards, Guggenheim Fellowships, and Academy Award nominations.

Congratulations, Yona!
