Office of Student Affairs Sponsors

As part of CMU's Black History Month's programming, the Office of Student Affairs is sponsoring "An Evening with Yona Harvey" in the Danforth Lounge in the University Center.

The February 22 event begins at 6 pm and is part of the "Speak Your Mind: Diversity, Discussion, and Dinner" series, which encourages community members to discuss important issues of diversity in a comfortable and non-threatening atmosphere. At each dinner in the series, a subject expert introduces an issue and then leads a discussion with directed questions and an open forum.

Past discussions have included the following topics: Islam and the African American Community; Immigration Laws and Their Effects on the Carnegie Mellon Community; Body Image and the Media; The Environment and China: Road to Progress or Ruin; Marriage in America; and From Hip-Hop & Techno to Salsa, Rock or Jazz: The Cultural Remix."

Harvey is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English.
