As the director of the First-Year Writing Program, my responsibilities range from training and mentoring new PhD student teachers, to instructing our ESL first-year students, to maintaining a working relationship with our English faculty and staff at our branch campus in Doha, Qatar.

My primary responsibility as Assistant Director is to support new instructors in their day-to-day teaching.  I also help organize professional development for all first-year writing instructors, work with the Director on designing course curricula and teaching heuristics, and coordinate the teaching best practices roundtables.

As the Coordinator of the First-Year Writing Program, I work closely with the Director and the Assistant Director to ensure the smooth operations of the program.  I serve as the first point of communication for students, instructors, advisors and other administrators within English and across campus.  I am in charge of scheduling first-year writing courses, coordinating events and meetings including our summer teaching orientation, and the annual Communication Symposium.  I also serve as the Assessment Team Coordinator for our summer placement process for incoming students, and work on various other projects.
