CMU Course Credit

Carnegie Mellon University may grant students Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge Advanced Level & Edexcel credit based upon the score or grade earned.  Below you will find information that will help you identify any credit you can receive towards your degree, CMU course equivalency, as well as how those credits can count toward your Dietrich general education requirements.

Advanced Placement (AP)

The Advanced Placement (AP) chart [.pdf] displays the AP exams that have been reviewed by CMU and lists what credit, if any, will be awarded for a score of 4 or 5.  CMU does not grant credit for any scores below a 4.  The third column in the chart lists the CMU course number that credit will be granted for.  The fourth column lists the number of units that will be awarded.  Once you have confirmed your AP scores and determined that CMU will award you credit, please click the Dietrich College AP General Education Equivalency chart [.pdf] to learn exactly how the units will count toward your general education requirements.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The International Baacalaureate (IB) chart [.pdf] displays the IB exams that have been reviewed by CMU and lists what credit, if any, will be awarded for a score of 6 or 7.  CMU does not grant credit for any scores below a 6.  The third column in the chart lists the CMU course number that credit will be granted for.  The fourth column lists the number of units that will be awarded.  Once you have confirmed your IB socres and determined that CMU will award credit, please click the Dietrich College IB General Eductional Equivalency chart [.pdf] to learn how the units will count toward your general education requirements.

Cambridge Advanced Level & Edexcel

The Cambridge A-Level chart [.pdf] displays the A-Level or Edexcel courses that have been reviewed by CMU and lists what credit, if any, will be awarded for a grade of A or B.  CMU does not grant credit for any grade below a B.  The third column in the chart lists the CMU course number that credit will be granted for.  The fourth column lists the number of units you will be awarded.  Once you have confirmed your grades and determined that CMU will award credit, please click the Dietrich College Cambridge Advanced Level chart [.pdf] to learn how the units will count toward your general education requirements.
