Carnegie Mellon United Way Campaign

We've changed the online pledge process to make it safer and easier!

This year, you'll see changes to the online pledge process.  These changes greatly enhance the security of pledging online, particularly via payroll deduction. The process has been updated to meet Carnegie Mellon University’s strict standards of confidentiality and adheres to the university’s Information Security Policy.

To donate online, go to https://doyouliveunited.org/ and follow the instructions below
(Detailed Instructions [.pdf]).

  • Connect to the United Way Web Site.
    • To enter the site, use Carnegie Mellon's institutional credentials:
            username: cmunew
            password: register
    • Once you enter the site, you'll be asked to provide your name and email address (additional information is optional).  Use your Andrew email address to easily donate through payroll deduction.
    • After you register, you'll be emailed a unique username and password so that you can log into your personal account.
    • Log into your account and follow the prompts to donate online. (Detailed instructions [.pdf])
  • Easy payroll deduction options - If you plan to donate via payroll deduction, please use your Andrew email address. If you do not use your Andrew email address, you will receive an email or telephone call to verify your identity and payroll information.
    • For staff moving to (or already on) the Biweekly Payroll, the monthly deduction that you enter will automatically be halved with half coming from the first pay and half from the second pay of each month.

You can also download and complete the paper United Way Pledge Form (.pdf).
Return the completed form to: Courtney Bryant, EOS, Whitfield Hall.

Last year, Carnegie Mellon employees came together to make a difference in our community.

  • Thanks to you, we raised more than $215,000 for United Way of Allegheny County.
  • Through April of this year alone, 321,429 people turned to the United Way for basic needs like food and clothing.

With the continued economic challenges facing so many in our area, it’s even more critical this year to help.  Even a mere $5 a month can help the needy right in our own backyard.

Please contact Courtney Bryant at cbryant@andrew.cmu.edu if you have any questions about the campaign.
