Carnegie Mellon’s 2009 Leadership Symposium

A Time of Challenge …The Time for Change

The Leadership Symposium will provide you with the strategies, tools and information you need to be successful. The 2009 Leadership Symposium, sponsored and supported by Carnegie Mellon to develop its leaders, is a one-day conference that provides timely and relevant information that you can apply to lead your group in an increasingly dynamic environment.

The Leadership Symposium will take place on March 12 in the University Center.

  • I will begin the day with an opening welcome.
  • Following a buffet lunch, Dr. Cohon will announce the inaugural class of the Carnegie Mellon Leadership Academy.
  • Our keynote address will be given by Denise Rousseau, H. J. Heinz II Professor of Organization Behavior and award-winning author of several books, including her most recent, I-Deals: Idiosyncratic Deals Workers Bargain for Themselves.
  • Throughout the day, we will offer concurrent sessions in the areas of: Leadership Development, Management Practices, Legal Issues, and Work-Life Balance. Concentrate on one track, or mix and match seminars to meet your needs.

The Leadership Symposium promises to be an opportunity for you to develop your skills and learn more about managerial issues of interest to you. The Symposium is an excellent opportunity for networking and constructive dialogue for all participants.

Because we know that materials from these sessions are valued resources, even if you are unable to attend a particular presentation, materials from most sessions will be available for download through this Web site. Handouts will not be distributed at the symposium; please print the materials out in advance if you wish to bring these materials to a concurrent session for note-taking. Presentation materials will continue to be available on the Web site after the symposium.

I look forward to seeing you on March 12th!
