Leaving for Winter Break

In general, residence halls close on December 16 at 12 pm and reopen on January 7 at 12 pm.

Residents leaving for Winter Break are encouraged to do so within 24 hours after their last exam. Residents are not permitted to be in closed residence halls after December 16 at 12 pm.

Residents will not regain access into their space until January 7 at 12 pm, unless they contact Housing Services and make arrangements. Please visit requesting extended stays and early arrivals for additional details. Students that arrive before January 7 at 12 pm, without Housing approval, will be assessed a fee of $100 USD per night through their student account.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LEAVING FOR WINTER BREAK

  • All residents must fill out the Google form from their Resident Advisor (RA) that indicates what day/time they will be leaving. Your RA will be checking your room space to verify that you have vacated for the break
  • Housing Services will conduct health and safety inspections for all living spaces, process maintenance requests and complete projects over the winter break. As a result, residents can anticipate that maintenance personnel may enter their room. If any issues are found during inspection, a notice will be left in the residence indicating the item(s) to be addressed. If you have any questions, please contact your Facility Coordinator.
  • The last person to leave for Winter Break should review the below check list to prepare your room for Winter Break.
  • When you return for spring 2015 you must visit a kiosk to check-in and reactivate your ID card. Your 4-digit housing pin number will be reset to your birthday. Kiosk stations will be located at Donner House, Hill Service Center, Housing Services office (Morewood E-Tower),  Morewood Gardens, Mudge House, The Residence on Fifth, Stever House and West Wing.
