Applying for Dining-Housing Services - Carnegie Mellon University

Applying for Dining

All first-year students are required to sign up for a Traditional Dining Plan (plans 1 through 9 on the Dining Plan Agreement).

When choosing a meal plan, you should consider how many times you think you will eat each day and try to find a balance between value and flexibility. The plans with the higher number of meal blocks have a greater value, whereas the plans that have more Flexible Dollars offer a greater amount of flexibility.

Dining Agreements for new first-year students are due by May 31. Students who do not select a plan before May 31 will automatically be assigned the Blue 4 plan (32 meals per two weeks.)

Before signing up for a dining plan, please take some time to read the Dining Plan Information page for new Incoming Students. That page offers valuable information regarding how the meal plan works, how to decide which plan to choose and information about the meal plan change period.

Ready to sign up?

Beginning with the Fall 2013 incoming first-year class, the dining application for first-year students will be available through the same application portal as the housing application. However, students who are under the age of 18 when applying for dining will need to submit a paper 2013-14 Dining Plan Agreement (available within the dining application) signed by a parent or guardian.
