Head Orientation Counselor Joe Frick, Dr. & Mrs. Suresh

Dr. Subra Suresh, Carnegie Mellon University's new president, kicks off the 2013 academic year with a personal welcome to the Carnegie Mellon family around the world.

He expressed his delight about the many good wishes he and his wife, Mrs. Mary Suresh, received when he assumed office as ninth president of CMU in July.

Suresh directed a special greeting to new students and families who, like him, are beginning their first year at CMU.

"You will find that Carnegie Mellon is an unusual and impressive place, and that is because of the remarkable and talented people in the university community worldwide."

For more than one hundred years, CMU has provided an exceptional education for students and a supportive environment for new ideas. The inventions and innovations created by our faculty and graduates have improved life and work for people in Pittsburgh, in the nation, and in the world, in countless ways.

Since taking office, Suresh has been engaged in a listening tour of the university, meeting with students, faculty, staff, and alumni, on CMU campuses and locations across the U.S. and around the world.

"I encourage everyone who wants to contribute to this deliberative process to do so, either at one of these gatherings or through the leadership website."

Planning is currently underway for the Inauguration of Dr. Subra Suresh for November 14–15, 2013 in Pittsburgh, PA. Details will be made available to the CMU global community very shortly.
